YCT’s Four Foundations

Be prepared

Community members should be assets during times of emergency or need. Under "Be Prepared," YCT will provide opportunities for citizens to engage with local emergency management programs, participate in active shooter scenarios, provide instruction on 911 fluency, explain police actions, and discuss building Community-Police partnerships. Through these avenues, we can work together to build trust.

Be strong

A strong community member is an active community member. Under "Be Strong," YCT will provide opportunities for citizens to focus on exercise, nutrition, self defense, and resiliency.

be accountable

Community members should be able to do more than just exist. Many members want to get involved, but simply don't know how. YCT can provide avenues to connect with local advocacy groups, partner with volunteer organizations, and learn about opportunities to run for political office.

be extraordinary

The main focus area of YCT is connecting youth with local law enforcement. More specifically, YCT will provide opportunities for local police officers to engage with students to replace fear with facts and promote an interest in a career in law enforcement.  This will be accomplished through open discourse in small groups and meetings, one-on-one mentorship, and a range of specifically targeted training which encompasses all aspects of the individual.

A very special thanks to Barbara Harris for providing her input and expertise.
